Please join contributors to celebrate the launch of the League Play Book!
League Play Book documents the recently completed League Nanaimo exhibition and the previous dozen years of the League project, and includes new short essays on play as a creative process. It is published as a limited-edition artist bookwork bound as an aluminum-covered field book, and as a free, downloadable PDF which you can print, hole-punch and insert into your own binder.

League is an ongoing project that invites community to experience creative process by inventing and playing new games and sports, and the League Play Book serves as a workbook with case studies and essays by artists, athletes, thinkers, and gamers who share their lived experience of creativity in their disciplines. Contributors include co-editors Germaine Koh and Simona Dolinská, along with curator and skateboarder Jesse Birch; runner/sociologist/anthropologist Lindsey Freeman; actor-playwright-jock James Long; artists and League regulars Bruce Emmett, Michael Love, and Joseph Strohan; artist Eliot White-Hill-Kwulasultun; musician George Rahi; athlete and video game maker Ian Verchere; ultra-endurance cyclist and author Meaghan Hackinen; pop-culture scholar and PopCC Director Biz Nijdam; League assistant Max Wu; skateboarder/writer Cole Nowicki; and activist-sportswriter Matt Hern.
Join some of the contributors to celebrate the book on Wednesday, 19th of November, 4-6 pm at Audain Art Centre on the University of British Columbia campus. Books will be available, refreshments will be served, and some of the playable objects from League Nanaimo will be on hand for onward play.
