I am a human geographer and critical migration researcher, currently Visiting Assistant Professor in the UBC Geography Department. My home institution is the UN University Institute for Environment and Human Security in Bonn, Germany. My recent work focuses on the political, cultural, and scientific controversies arising from growing concern about climate change’s impact on human mobilities. I am particularly interested in the work of translating knowledge between academia, international development practice, and policy-making, especially through non-conventional or creative means like serious games and interactive workshops. I recently co-designed a Planned Relocation Simulation (a role-playing board game for 12-20 players) for use with international policy-makers, researchers, and students and am exploring how to continue centering games in my work.
