Christal Rose Hazelton is a graduate student in UBC’s School of Creative Writing. Her areas of interest are narrative and representation in North American video games, pop culture, and children’s media. Before coming to UBC, Christal Rose worked as a writer and game developer for Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends and WB Games Avalanche’s Hogwarts Legacy, as well as mentored for several videogame-focused mentorship and outreach groups. In 2024, she co-authored a talk on creating diverse characters at Game Developers Conference (GDC). Her first name is “Christal Rose”, with the space.
